Allright screw this, Mathew thought. Orders or no orders, he wasn't going to stand around and let civilians get pasted by a monkey and a lizard. spotting a screaming woman about to be flattened by rubble, he grabbed her wrist and sharply yanked her out of it's path. "Fraulein, are you allright?"

Zilla roared in agony as several ribs broke, one almost piercing his side. Charging his breath weapon he discharged it not towards Kong, but towards the ground past the monstrous ape. The continued force of the weapon shoved Zilla away from his foe, shredding portions of the street as he went. It bought him just enough time to get to his feet. Once upright he breathed heavily, a thick plume of smoke rising from his nostrils as blood dripped from his side.
A loud roar of pure rage shattered windows as he dared Kong to bring the fight to him once more.

Kong was impressed. Never had a creature stood up to him this long, this well. For a moment, Kong almosst left, leaving this creature his territory. He then remembereed that he had no home, a felt a passion for this land once again.
With a return roar, Kong charged Zilla.

Ann was thrust off her feet by the man from the falling debri. She looked to him, then back to the beasts, too much in a panic to respond.

Zilla stood his ground as Kong came barreling towards him, his claws curled at a strange angle. Once his opponent was close enough he revealed a chunk of building he had snatched just as he managed to distance himself moments ago. Stepping to the side he swung, his claws still grasping the debris, and smashed it into the side of Kong’s head.

Kong roared in pain, stumbling to the side. He stumbled over some debris and fell, clutching the side of his face, bleeding profusely.

Zilla stumbled as well, the effort of the attack having put even more strain on his already damaged body. His side ached terribly, the sharp stabbing pain the result of a broken and bent rib threatening to pierce his side. Falling, he lay in a sprawled heap, breathing heavily, his broken ribs rattling.

Kong groaned, but made no attempt to get back to his feet. He couldn't. He was on the verge of slipping unconscious, the blood less draining him of all his energy. With a slight gasp, Kong did in fact lose consciousness, lying limp against the broken shell of a skyscraper.

Zilla, crawled along, gasping for air and fighting to overcome the blackness dancing before his eyes. With one last effort he stood releasing a snort of pain, before collapsing, his crash sending water spewing into the air as he sank into the ocean.

Out in the open, Ann Darrow watched paralyzed in place as the monster battle finally ended. She was speechless as she was motionless.

Kong groaned as he finally lifted his head up to survey his surroundings. The other monster was gone, so he could relax. And that's just what he needed to do. As he lay his head back down, he caught sight of a small, golden haired creature. Picking his head back up, he looked directly at Ann. Straining, he brought himself up into a sitting position, and leaned in for a closer look.

Darrow gasped and walked backwards, then started running.

Kong grunted as Ann began to run, and he struggled to his feet, his limping gait catching up to her quickly. He scooped her up in one of his massive hands, bringing her up near his face to look at her.

As Ann was hoisted into the air, time seemed to stop as she felt like she could see her life flashing before her. Losing all sense, she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Kong had Ann right at his face when she screamed, and the sound startled him a bit, causing him to hold her further away. With a growl, he opened his maw and roared back at her.
