I've been kicking around an idea for an online comic about Godzilla for awhile now and, with Goji's help, its finally gonna get made.
The idea follows the orginal black and white film and picks up nearly fifty years after the monster was killed in tokyo bay. After the incident, the united nations established a godzilla research branch, UNGCC and set up G-Force programs for nearly every country.
The JSDF took extreme measures to protect it's motherland: all fish taken from the sea is checked for radiation as soon as it is taken into port by armed guards. The crew and the boat is also checked. Submarines and Destroyer ships scan the oceans around Japan every August, the month Godzilla appeared in 1954. In 1955, one year after godzilla's appearance the study of monsters, or Kaijuology, is born.
Now, these traditions aren't inforced as severely as they once were. Only certain area's of the Japanese coast are checked, most fishing boats and cargo go unchecked and Kaijuology is now considered a joke among the scientific community.
Godzilla himself has been reduced to a tourist attraction, like the Loch Ness Monster, complete with boat rides into the sea of japan 'In Search of Godzilla'.
The main characters are three godzilla chasers stationed in tokyo, a military captain that survived the first attack, an airforce pilot, and two high school students.
the story will be told using the 'red sky' technique i've been experimenting with and animated like a living comic book, with pages fading in and dialogue being read over the panels. Ever play max payne?
i'll have a few test shots up in a few days to give you a better idea of what were going for and auditions for the cast of characters are open to anyone and will begin soon. If you have any questions or comments, lemme know!
