As Angelenis and Jet Jaguar spoke in the very top of the central tower, Malumusma had descended herself down into the bowels of the fortress, far beneath the surface and into the deep crevices below.
Down here, it was much warmer as tiny vents released hot jets of air from below the ocean floor. Small streams of magma ran through the ground, only adding to the inferno. Malumusma gave a relaxed sigh as she felt the heat surrounding her already burning body. The flames on her mane roared before she sat down, resting her head on a rock.
Her flames gently subsidied and maintained a steady, glowing burn. She looked like an ember fresh from a roaring bonfire as she closed her flaming eyes and began to drift to sleep. In her slumber, she began to dream...
In her dream, Malumusma stood on a bloody battlefield littered with the corpses of monsters and humans alike. The sky had gone black and turned to bloody rain, pounding the earth below. Slowly, in the crimson downpour, the Dark Child began to search the battlefield for any life. She saw figures that she did not even know or had never even seen before, yet somehow she knew they were close allies, beings that would be missed. In the distance, there was the sound of a battle...
Malumusma galloped ahead, determined to find the source of the battle. Her flames spread in anticipation as she discovered the source, stunned beyond words. On one side of a clearing stood Angelenis, proud and powerful. On the other stood her biological mother, bloodied and weak. The immaculate alicorn's white hide had been tarnished with her blood and soaked by the blood from above. She looked as if death was by her side, ready to fall.
"Malumusma...my child..." the alicorn weakly groaned. "Please...help me...remember your heritage...who you are..."
"Don't listen, my beloved daughter." Angelenis cooed, stepping forward and spreading her wings. Her voice was powerful and firm. "It was I that bore you and I that gave you your destiny. Your heritage does not exist, for you are truly not a part of the weak and pathetic clan."
"No...!" the alicorn stepped forward, almost falling. "Malumusma she lies! It was I...that carried you...I that gave...birth to you...You are...my child...do not think...of this fake...taint...she has placed upon...your soul...!"
"Enough of this..." Angelenis cooed with malice glowing in her eyes. She turned towards the alicorn and spread her wings, charging her as she swept along the ground. The alicorn charged weakly, lowering her head. Two dark fireballs leapt from Angelenis' fists and stroke either of her foreward shoulders.
The alicorn staggered and nearly fell, meekly spreading her wings. As she went to sail upwards, Angelenis came underneath her fast and drove her sword straight through her sternum and out of her back. For a moment her wings flapped on before the alicorn went limp and Angelenis spun around to release her from the sword's grasp. The Dark Queen's wings kicked up bloodied sand as she landed before Malumusma, the alicorn's corpse striking the ground not too far behind her.
"My beloved daughter." Angelenis cooed. "All that she said was false. I am your true mother. I truly love you."
"Thank you mother..." Malumusma sighed, watching as her biological mother's corpse burst into a silver flamed and seemingly whisped away. The pair, Dark Queen and Dark Child, then took to the air, leaving the battlefield.
The dream ended there, yet Malumusma slept on, her subconscious thoughts lingering on it all through her slumber.
